Alex lives in Chatan-cho, Okinawa. It's about 30 minutes or so from the capital city of Naha. It's a nice little area, he lives in a townhouse about 10 minutes walk from the sea wall and a beach! The weather was mostly cloudy while we were visiting but the sun managed to come out just enough (about 3hrs) for me to get a nice sunburn. oops.

Parts of the sea wall were under construction. They're reinforcing it and making it taller/higher.
We went for lots of walks along the sea wall.. very pretty!
Travel buddies
The water was very clear right out of the sea wall. The first day we arrived the waves were huge so there were a lot of surfers out. The following days we just saw lots of scuba divers and fishermen.

We went hunting for shells almost every day. Had to wear shoes most of the time though cause of the reef.
